Lithotech acquires IDS

14 Jul 2009

In a move designed to increase its share of the print-on-demand (POD) market, Lithotech has acquired Imaging Data Systems (IDS) from a Media24 subsidiary.

IDS was a business unit of On the Dot (OtD) – a logistics company that provides a fully-integrated warehousing and delivery service – providing it with digital printing services. Under the sale agreement, IDS will continue to supply this service to OtD. IDS will become a busines unit of LIthotech Afric Mail (LAM), and will complement LAM’s presence in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.

Hennie Mentz, Managing Director of Lithotech Afric Mail, sees IDS as a strageic acquisition that anticipates the importance that is being placed on the use of highly targeted, small-volume communications that can be produced quickly and cost effectively. He commented that “with our vast experience in all aspects of digital printing, LAM is ready to take POD to a whole new level in South Africa.” He concluded that “ultimately, this acquisition is for the benefit of our customers as they now have access to the most comprehensive digital printing service in Southern Africa.”
